Access to the latest technological resources can be considered the backbone of education in the 21st century, and today’s students in particular demand the latest computing, multimedia and interactive tools available.
The University of Arkansas is a member of Internet2, providing a high-speed connection to other national and international research networks. In addition, a wide variety of computing resources are available at the University of Arkansas, including e-mail and 300 MB of storage for files and Web page development, available to all students, faculty and staff.
Five general access computing labs are available on campus, some open 24 hours to the university community. All labs offer printing, with color printers available in certain labs. Residence halls also are wired for high-speed, direct network access and students have access to a number of PCs and Macintosh systems through general access and special purpose computer labs located throughout the campus.

In addition, laptops are available for checkout through Mullins Library and the Student Technology Center in the Arkansas Union. Students, faculty and staff also have access to the network using their own laptops through open network jacks and wireless Internet, which is available campus-wide.
The Student Technology Center, located in the Arkansas Union, is a walk-in computing help center offering laptops and desktops loaded with advanced multimedia software for layout, graphic design and website development. Digital cameras and projectors are available for checkout from the Center.
The Multimedia Resource Center focuses on education and training and provides the university community with access to computers with a variety of multimedia, editing, authoring, mastering and publishing applications on Macintosh and Windows platforms. Software and applicable hardware is available for audio and video capture, image scanning and manipulation, Web design, CD-RW creation and DVD creation.
