rGrant (Educational Research Grants)
Students seeking funding for research, projects and other scholarly undertakings can turn to the rGrant Program for financial support. The program allows students from all academic disciplines and under faculty supervision to apply for funds that allow them to conduct laboratory experiments, senior projects, field studies, the printing of a thesis, subscription to related journals and material to create artwork. The program is available for both undergraduate and graduate students.
rGrant applications are due the first Thursday of October. The program does not supply money for salaries, meals, or symposia and manuscript presentations. In addition, a project report must be turned in once work concludes, and surplus equipment and supplies that are acquired by student body funds need to be returned when a project ends.

Instructionally Related Activities (IRA) Funding
The Instructionally Related Activities (IRA) grant is a great way to fund activities that are partially sponsored by academic programs, disciplines or departments as a way to augment classroom learning. These activities are those which are considered essential to providing a quality and unique education here at Fresno State. Examples include agricultural judging, art exhibits, athletics, drama and musical productions, forensics, music and dance performances, publications, radio, television, and film productions.
Each student contributes $30 to the IRA fund every semester through campus fees, and all students are welcome to apply as long as their project meets the following criteria: It must be partially sponsored by an academic program, discipline or department; integral to course offerings; intensive and structured; and must require active rather than passive student participation.
The initial application deadline is typically mid-spring semester for the following academic year. Late applications will be accepted and reviewed during the fall semester, but will not be given priority funding. IRA applications and deadline dates can be found on the ASI website at www.asi.csufresno.edu.

ASI Sponsored Activities Funding (Club Funding)
Recognized campus clubs and organizations are eligible to apply for up to $2,000 a semester for on-campus events and activities that are open and free to all Fresno State students. Funding details and applications are available online at www.asi.csufresno.edu.
Here’s a step-by-step process in a nutshell.
1 Become a recognized student organization. To be recognized as an official student club or organization, visit the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development in USU 306.
2 Submit a signature agreement form to the ASI Office. The signature agreement form provides the ASI Office with official signature records of your club officers. Make sure that the signatures that the ASI Office has on record are updated. You only need to submit this form the first time you apply for funding, and whenever any signatures need to be updated.
3 Submit the ASI Sponsored Activity funding application to ASI Office. Submit the application with the necessary supporting documents (e.g., budget for the event, quotes that support expected expenses, proposed artwork for ASI funded flyers, etc.). When applying, read through the Funding Guidelines and apply for expenses that are within the guidelines. Make sure you submit your application five weeks prior to your event date if you are requesting over $1,000, or three weeks prior if you are requesting under $1,000.
4 Contact the ASI Vice President of Finance regarding application status. Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed by the Finance Committee and sometimes the Senate for approval.
5 Get approved! Once you are approved you will receive an award letter confirming the amount allocated to your club and specifics as to how you can or cannot spend the money. Check your club/organization mailbox for the award letter or letter stating funds were denied with an explanation.
6 Submit expense forms to pay for your event. Associated Students, Inc., is only able to pay for expenses directly to vendors, to reimburse individuals who pay for expenses in advance, or to open purchase orders.
Please submit expense forms by June 15 of the academic year on which the event is held, or 45 days after the event has occurred, whichever is sooner, or you will be unable to use the funding allocated to your club.
