From museums and athletics to recreation and the arts, the Fresno area is bursting with things to see and do.

Sports enthusiasts regularly attend events featuring AAA Grizzlies baseball, Fresno Falcons hockey, Fresno Fuego soccer and the variety of collegiate sports at CSU- Fresno, while families enjoy the exciting Fresno Chaffee Zoo, the Wild Water Adventure Park, Rotary Storyland & Playland, and Boomers Miniature Golf.

History buffs relish in the local museums. The Kearney Mansion, Meux Home, and African American Historical and Cultural Museum are among the area’s finest history museums. The Fresno Metropolitan Museum of Art & Science is a popular destination, as are the Hmong Cultural Heritage Center & Museum, Arte Americas, the California Memorial Museum, the Children’s Museum of the Sierra, Veterans Memorial Museum, and the Legion of Valor Museum.

The culture of the Fresno area is vibrant and diverse. It is regularly experienced through a calendar year of community events, such as the Big Fresno Fair, Mexican Independence Day and the Hmong New Year Celebration, as well as through various theatres, musical troupes and arts organizations. The Fresno Arts Council hosts the ArtHop program, a monthly event showcasing more than 60 art venues throughout the county. Among the venues are galleries and artist studios, retail outlets, and public spaces. Music and theatre lovers will enjoy the sounds of the Fresno Philharmonic at the Saroyan Theatre and the theatres at CSU and Fresno City College. Plus, a trip to the Tower District will bring guests to the historic Tower Theatre, Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater and the intimate Second Space. The Fresno Tango Society, Fresno Dixieland Society and Fresno Folklore Society are also great avenues for those looking to get involved in the local art scene.
