The city of Fresno is an ideal place to start a business. Easy access via roadway, air and rail assists in the transfer of goods. The climate is favorable, and the available work force is plentiful. Plenty of locations exist to set up a business. Shaw Gates Business Park, Palm Bluffs Corporate Center and River Park Corporate Center provide office space. Roeding Industrial Park, Fancher Creek and North Pointe offer warehouse, manufacturing and distribution facilities.
Fresno County is fortunate to have the Economic Development Corporation serving the entire county. Beyond what nature can provide, the EDC makes it a point to work with government agencies and private companies and organizations to broaden and expand businesses opportunities in the county.
The city of Fresno’s Economic Development Department is dedicated to provide a favorable environment for businesses ventures. Working with a number of groups and organizations in the city makes this possible. The Economic Development Department creates programs that benefit businesses to help them get started or remain viable in the community.
Fresno businesses located within several incentive zones benefit from tax savings. Zones include HUB, Foreign Trade, Local Municipal Restoration, Federal Empowerment and State Enterprise. Other financing programs are offered to help businesses relocate to Fresno, expand an existing business or build a new one.
The goal of the Business Matchmaking and Networking Event is to bring small local businesses together with larger companies. Often these smaller businesses are overlooked by their larger counterparts. This event facilitates communication between the two with the hope that these larger clients will patronize the locals. Fresnostartup.com is a tool for new businesses, providing them with the resources they need to facilitate opening a business. The Business Expansion Attraction and Retention (BEAR) Action Network works with community groups to assist area businesses overcome problems or obstacles they may face.
