| Mizzou Earns Thousands in Roylties |
(December 18, 2007/Columbia, MO) -- The Division of Student Affairs of the University of Missouri-Columbia accepted a royalty check for $3,800 from College Town Profile on Monday, December 17 following publication of the new University of Missouri-Columbia Campus/Community Profile. The royalties, which will be used for scholarships, were generated from advertising sales of nearly $50,000 in the magazine, which Elliot Pope, Interim Assistant Director, said was “one of the best publications the Division of Student Affairs has ever produced.” The Mizzou Campus/Community Profile included information about the Student Union division various programs, services and activities, along with a profile of the city of Columbia, to help familiarize students -- and parents -- with their "home away from home" College Town Profile’s Convergence Publishing Program™ provided for digital publication of the magazine as well as print copies. The introduction of a digital publication dovetailed with the announcement earlier this year of the University’s School of Journalism new curriculum sequence in Convergence Journalism -- the first new sequence added to the J-School’s degree programs in 50 years. Convergence journalism refers to producing news for and with audiences across existing and emerging media platforms; convergence publishing produces information in a similar manner through varied media. Students following the Convergence sequence at Mizzou’s J-School learn how to produce print, on-air and online stories; College Town Profile produces its comprehensive campus/community profiles in print, online and via wireless devices. The College Town Profile Convergence Publishing Program™ includes the printed magazine; publication website and free downloadable eBooks at www.villageprofile.com; and online administrative/faculty directory at www.vpmobile.us. Both sites can be accessed 24/7 via laptops and wireless devices such as smartphones, Blackberrys and Treos; the publication website and eBooks are also accessible through desktop computers. Besides Mizzou, in 2007 College Town Profile produced print and digital campus/community guides for Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio; CASE Western Reserve University in Cleveland; Albertson College in Caldwell, ID; and Kishwaukee College in Malta, IL. At least a dozen other schools’ publications will be produced in 2008.
