Fall
A Taste of the Harvest:
This celebration began six years ago as a way to highlight the bounty of the agricultural harvest in Canyon County. It was the brainchild of ACI alumnus Ron Bitner (68). Bitner is a local grape grower who saw an opportunity to bring the community together on the Albertson College of Idaho campus. A Taste of the Harvest is modeled after similar events in other northwest college towns. The celebration includes wine tasting from several of Idaho’s small wineries. Idaho’s boutique wineries are making themselves known to wine connoisseurs throughout the world. Many believe the earth and growing conditions in southwest Idaho rival that of the Napa Valley in northern California. Since the first Taste of the Harvest, attendance has grown from less than 500 to more than 1,000. All proceeds benefit a scholarship fund for first generation students whose parents are agricultural workers. The work of these families makes the harvest possible. Come enjoy the food, wine, festivities and fun!
Indian Creek Festival
The Indian Creek Festival is a celebration of the economic and aesthetic resurrection of Caldwell City center—including the day lighting and restoration of Indian Creek and redevelopment of the downtown to create a great place to live, play and shop. The annual celebration, marks milestones in the Indian Creek restoration project through music, food and cultural entertainment. Through the Indian Creek Restoration Project, Caldwell is investing in the City Center to create a six-acre urban greenway, the restoration of the historic Train Depot and the vibrant redevelopment of the downtown. The Festival is the celebration of bringing the vision to life.
Summer
Caldwell Night Rodeo: Where the cowboys are the stars
The Caldwell Night Rodeo takes place in August on the Canyon County fairgrounds. It is listed among the top 20 professional rodeos in the nation and draws crowds in the neighborhood of 40,000 over five nights. Fans are divided up into the Rowdies and the Townies by sides of the arena. The best professional cowboys in the world make the Caldwell Night Rodeo an annual stop in their schedule. It has been featured on nationwide television and is one of the rodeos listed on the professional rodeo tour.
During Rodeo week, the annual Buckaroo Breakfast is put on by the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce on the grounds of Albertson College of Idaho. The breakfast features hearty flapjacks, eggs, bacon and sausage. You just might find yourself eating next to one of the stars of the rodeo. The CNR and the Buckaroo Breakfast are two Caldwell traditions you won’t want to miss.
