A Healthy Choice
Kishwaukee College offers degree and certificate programs that train students for one of three healthcare areas: Nursing, Radiologic Technology or Therapeutic Massage.
The Nursing program offers three levels of nursing studies: CNA, LPN and the two-year RN degree. The RN degree-program is one of the best in the state, boasting one of the highest overall NCLEX-RN (State Board Examination) pass rates in Illinois and in the country. Kishwaukee College students’ overall average is 95 percent, compared with state and national averages of 84-87 percent.
The Radiologic Technology program is a two-year program that prepares individuals to practice as entry-level radiographers in the field of medical imaging. Concurrent clinical experience is provided in major trauma centers, community hospitals, clinics and dedicated imaging centers with which the program is affiliated. Graduates are eligible to take the national certification examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Certification by the ARRT qualifies the graduate to practice throughout the United States (some states may also require technologists to secure a license to practice).
The Therapeutic Massage Certification Program provides excellence in massage therapy training. Students are provided the knowledge and practical skills of massage therapy so that they may become highly skilled practitioners. While emphasizing health and wellness, the program strives to educate students with a firm foundation in the bio-sciences, professionalism and ethics. The 616-hour therapeutic massage certification program prepares students to become highly skilled massage therapists. The curriculum meets the standards set by the Commission On Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA) and graduates are eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage (NCETM).
