Nontraditional students have strengths and challenges that make their university experiences unique. K-State’s Non-Traditional Student Services helps ease the transition to university life by helping nontraditional students draw on their assets and experiences and apply them to challenges that may arise from integrating academics and university into their already busy lives.
Approximately one-fourth of K-State students are considered nontraditional and are eligible for assistance at Non-Traditional Student Services. At K-State, if you meet at least one of the following criteria, you are considered a nontraditional student:
• 25 years or older
• Married
• Parent
• Veteran
• Returning to school after an abscence of three or more years
Non-Traditional Student Services provides students with information, connects them with necessary resources, advocates on their behalf, and provides encouragement throughout the educational journey. Because we know that being a nontraditional student carries special financial burdens, Non-Traditional Student Services provides information about scholarship opportunities and assists students through the application process. Non-Traditional Student Services helps students succeed at Kansas State University from admission through graduation.
