As a part of the larger Campaign for Nonviolence at K-State, the SafeZone program (Students, Administrators, and Faculty for Equality)—with designated SafeZones on campus—was created to more easily identify persons, programs, and services that have made a special commitment to making our Principles of Community visible through our actions.
Who are SafeZone Allies?
SafeZone allies are faculty, staff, and students who are trained to know campus resources and to listen, support, and help anyone connect with those resources. In particular, the SafeZone can be a useful first line of contact to talk about issues that impact people who have been affected by any type of hate/hate crime, women who are affected by sexual violence/sexual harassment and related issues, as well as matters concerning LGBT individuals.
How do I Find a SafeZone?
SafeZone symbols are visibly posted on doors and at desks and are also listed on an easy-to-use campus web map at www.k-state.edu/womenscenter/ SafeZone.htm.
To Become a SafeZone Ally
K-State faculty, staff, and students are all welcome to become SafeZone allies and can attend an introductory training session. Additional training sessions are open to the campus community. Go to www.k-state.edu/ womenscenter/SafeZone.htm for more information and to register for training, or contact nonviolence@k-state.edu—please type “SafeZone question” in your e–mail subject line.
