PUBLIC SCHOOLING: MANHATTAN-OGDEN USD 383
Dedicated to providing the highest quality in public education to the Manhattan and Ogden areas is Manhattan-Ogden USD 383. The district enrolls nearly 5,500 students within 13 facilities, which includes nine elementary schools (K-6)—eight in Manhattan, one in Ogden—two middle schools (7-8), and one high school composed of two separate campuses—the East Campus (9) and the West Campus (10-12). District 383 also operates the Manhattan Alternative High School at the Flint Hills Job Corps. More than 1,000 find employment through District 383, making it the fourth largest employer in the Manhattan community. On top of the K-12 educational opportunities afforded to students, the district provides infant and toddler services, early childhood education programs, and adult education through the Manhattan Adult Learning Center.

ADULT EDUCATION AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING
Operated by the Manhattan-Ogden USD 383, and situated in the Manhattan Workforce Center, the Manhattan Adult Learning Center offers adult basic education, English as a Second Language, GED preparation and testing, and instruction in computer technology.

The Flint Hills Job Corps Center is a vocational training program designed for young adults, ages 16 through 24, seeking to acquire or improve job skills for employment. Approximately 250 students are enrolled at the institution, which, in addition to the regular vocational training courses, offers adult basic education, GED classes, a high school diploma program, advanced training, and college programs.

Kansas State University

HIGHER LEARNING
While Kansas State University is a prominent source of higher education in Manhattan, it is not the only source. In fact, just across the street from the K-State campus is Manhattan Christian College (MCC), a private, four-year institution offering single and dual-degree programs, along with an adult degree completion program. MCC works closely with its neighbor, K-State, to provide students with the option for cooperative programs combining coursework from both institutions.

Within only a couple of miles from the K-State campus is the Manhattan Area Technical College, a site where career and continuing education opportunities are readily available. In addition to the college’s 11 full-time programs of study are short-term continuing education courses, which lead to a certificate, and customized training and seminars designed to aid local business and industry.

Further options for post-secondary education in the Manhattan area include the American Institute of Baking, American Academy of Hair Design, and Crum’s Beauty College. d
