A recognized regional retail center, Manhattan is in a category of its own when it comes to world-class shopping, dining, and entertainment. Several prominent shopping districts, a regional mall, and a selection of freestanding establishments ensure shoppers and diners finding everything and anything with ease in Manhattan.

While in Manhattan, it is a definite must to visit historic Aggieville, Kansas’ oldest shopping district. Located in the heart of the city, The Ville is a hotspot featuring family-friendly shopping and dining during the daytime, and an animated nightlife filled with great entertainment. Aggieville has been a community fixture since 1889, encompassing a diversity of retailers, offering charming gifts, music, sporting goods, books, and apparel, plus additional service-oriented businesses. In the mix are several dining establishments, providing diners with everything under the sun in terms of food choices. American pub fare, deli sandwiches, Cajun/Creole dishes, Mexican cuisine, and delicious dessert shops are all part of the Aggieville landscape. Adding to this is unmatched entertainment, as the area is home to a host of annual events, including the Mayor’s Christmas Parade, the Little Apple New Year’s Eve celebration and ball drop, the St. Patrick’s Day parade, and the K-State Homecoming parade and pep rally.

In addition to serving as home to city and county government, Manhattan’s historic downtown district is teeming with specialty retailers, first-class restaurants, spirited year-round entertainment, and recreation. Poyntz Avenue has been an established commercial and civic center in Manhattan since the 1850s, and houses more than 260 retail services and professional businesses today. Downtown Manhattan is a pedestrian-friendly district, and is certainly the place to be when it comes to retail and dining. Also located downtown is Manhattan Town Center, a 392,000-square-foot enclosed regional mall. Anchored by Dillard’s, JCPenney, and Sears, the center is equipped with more than 70 specialty stores and a food court.

The Westloop Shopping Center, one of the community’s finest shopping districts, is another outdoor site providing a selection of merchandise and services for patrons. The Loop, which is bordered by North Seth Child Road, Anderson Avenue, and Claflin Road, was established in 1962 and has since grown to encompass more than 35 retail stores, professional services, and delicious eateries. The Eastside Shopping District, Westside Shopping District, and Wildcat Landing are additional areas for great shopping and dining endeavors.
