UL Lafayette strongly supports Greek life. There are 20 nationally recognized sororities and fraternities on our campus. Each group has its own personality and offers something unique but all of them offer prospects for leadership, academic excellence, community service and lasting friendships.

UL Greeks are some of the most outgoing leaders on campus! Many leadership skills are learned in fraternities and sororities that prove to be beneficial for the future. In addition, Greeks hold prominent positions in such outstanding groups as Student Government Association, Student Orientation Staff, University Program Council, Up Til’ Dawn, Residence Halls and many more.
Scholarship is a very important part of membership in fraternities and sororities. Each chapter has GPA requirements that members must fulfill to remain eligible for membership. Chapters have scholarship programs to encourage success through study hours and tutoring programs. Because of the support that fraternities and sororities provide, UL Greeks consistently exceed the All-Undergraduate GPA and members are more likely to graduate from college than the average student.
UL Greeks engage in numerous local and nationwide community service projects, usually referred to as philanthropies. On average, over $60,000 is raised for organizations each year. Some of the organizations UL Greeks contribute to include St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Prevent Child Abuse America, Children’s Miracle Network and Faith House of Acadiana. Additionally, over 20,000 hours on average are given in service each year to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, Top Soccer and various after-school tutoring programs.
Last but not least, Greek organizations are fun! A great part of college is taking the time to enjoy life. Numerous events are hosted by sororities and fraternities each year just to have fun. Whether it is cheering on the Ragin’ Cajuns at athletic events, making plans for socials or hosting barbeques, Greeks can be found around campus having a good time.
