Not just an identification card, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Cajun Card serves many purposes, providing access to many amenities and services on campus.

College students work up quite an appetite studying, socializing and participating in school-sponsored events and athletics. With the Cajun Card, they have access to a cornucopia of food choices. On campus, students can use their cards to utilize their meal plan and declining balance. Students can also dine at a number of on-campus and local restaurants that accept Cajun Cash. The University Bookstore and several area stores take Cajun Cash as well.
Cajun Cash can be loaded onto a student’s Cajun Card at any time via check by mail, in person at the Cajun Card office, online at cajuncard.louisiana.edu and automatic deposit machines located around campus. Card balances can also be checked at many of these sites. In essence, the Cajun Card acts as a debit card for Cajun Cash. While this form of payment is not accepted everywhere, it is quite a convenience for students.

The Cajun Card gains students access to a plethora of exciting campus events and activities, including Ragin’ Cajun Athletics. The card is also necessary to enter many campus buildings.
The Cajun Card office always tries its best to find new ways for students to utilize these versatile cards. Not all campus vending machines are equipped to accept Cajun Cash, but the office hopes to outfit additional units to do so. In the future, students may be able to use Cajun Cash at campus laundry facilities. “One of our missions is to create a cashless campus community to make life more convenient and safe,” said Lucien Gastineau, director of Cajun Card Services.
