UL Lafayette Alumni Association

The mission of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association is to promote good fellowship among alumni; to strengthen the ties of loyalty and devotion of alumni to their alma mater; and to at all times further the interests of the institution.

Alumni Center

The Alumni Association organizes alumni, students, supporters and friends and directs their time, talents and resources to best serve the university. Modes of volunteer service include, but are not limited to: the Executive Board, the Alumni Council, the Past Presidents’ Council club and chapter leadership roles, and various committee memberships.

The Alumni Association staff is an integral part of the Association’s success and is composed of individuals who have a lot in common, but whose talents and interests are diverse. Collectively, it could be described as the backbone of the UL Lafayette Alumni Association. It makes sure that alumni events go off without a hitch; it organizes and plans for the future of the Association; and implements a lot of your ideas and suggestions.

In support of this mission, the Alumni Council and the Alumni staff work together to:

The Alumni Association has nearly 40 constituent groups that are collectively referred to as clubs and chapters. Ragin' Cajun Clubs are alumni organizations whose base of membership is derived from a specific geographic region (city, parish, state, metropolitan area, etc.). Alumni Chapters are alumni organizations whose base of membership is derived from a specific college, major or interest group (i.e. College of Nursing Alumni Chapter - nursing graduates; College of Education Alumni Chapter - education graduates). They are all involved in many activities, but their major goals are: to provide an opportunity for all alumni (graduates and former students) and friends of UL to interact meaningfully with the university and its activities and to serve as one of the contacts for current information about the university and its programs; to consistently seek to increase active alumni membership; to recruit, under the guidance and direction of university admissions staff, outstanding students from their area to attend UL; and to provide support to the university, the Alumni Association and deserving students from their area of interest for the purpose of attending UL.

“Striving to enhance the relationship between alumni and students, while developing a lifelong commitment to our university” is the mission of the Association of Future Alumni. Known around campus as AFA, this chapter of the Alumni Association is open to all students, in any major, at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The purpose of this organization is to instill in its members a life-long sense of commitment and pride for our university. Meetings are usually held once a month at the beautiful Alumni Center in the boardroom located directly behind the Alumni Center. Becoming a member of AFA gives students the opportunity to network with members of the Alumni Association and also provides great service opportunities. Networking occurs at events held year ‘round, such as Homecoming events, tailgating and the annual Spring Gala, to name a few. Discounts to local and national businesses are offered to members, the free food and beverages provided at meetings is an extra bonus.

Another division of AFA was recently created, the Student Alumni Ambassadors. The Student Alumni Ambassadors are a prestigious group of AFA members who demonstrate a strong commitment to the organization and to the university. These individuals not only direct and organize AFA functions by serving as officers, but also are involved in other campus organizations and activities. Ambassadors are elected through an interview process with Alumni Association volunteer leaders and staff members. Through the Ambassadors’ leadership, they hope to further advance the success and growth of AFA for years to come.

The Alumni Association will serve as your official link to the university after your time here as a student has passed, but you do not need to wait until then to become a member.
