Education
On top of the highly rated education found through the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the parish is served by the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS).
The award-winning educational network stands as the state’s 7th largest public school system, serving over 30,000 students in Lafayette Parish. The system is composed of 38 schools: 21 elementary schools, 12 middle schools and five high schools. In addition, LPSS oversees five Schools of Choice, six High School Academies, the N.P. Moss Annex and the L.J. Alleman Arts Academy, along with French Immersion, Gifted and Alternative Program options.
Lafayette Parish is also home to a number of excellent private and parochial schooling options for those seeking an alternative to public education.
