The primary role of the Dean of Students Office is to assist students in accomplishing personal and educational goals. We value individuality, practice sensitivity in dealing with each student’s circumstances and measure success by a student’s personal level of achievement. Our office believes that students are our first priority and advocates for students both individually and as a group.
The Dean of Students Office provides a variety of services for students. Our office can be contacted when students are confronted by an issue or concern, or if students have a question about how to enhance their education. We are here to answer questions, refer students to appropriate resources and help students navigate their way through University procedures. When a problem is brought to us, we are responsible for its successful resolution. We also serve as a resource to parents, faculty and staff when questions or concerns arise.

There are three main categories of services within the umbrella of the Dean of Students Office: Residence Life and Services, Student Conduct and Disability Services. Residence Life and Services includes an award-winning system that provides a variety of living environments, programs and services.
Student Conduct educates students about behavioral choices and holds them accountable for their actions. Disability Services helps to remove barriers that might make personal and educational goals more difficult to reach, and provides resources and guidance to students on an individual basis. Our office also offers notary services, voter registration and access to free legal advice from a local attorney.
Overall, our staff is dedicated to helping make the Missouri State experience the best possible!
Office of Student Conduct
The mission of Student Conduct is to educate students concerning their rights, privileges and corresponding duties and responsibilities.

We recognize that every facet of student life is an opportunity for learning and inquiry. The Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities, along with other University policies, are educational tools designed to assist students in their development as active, involved and responsible citizens. We strive to maintain a balance, fostering the exercise of individual rights while maintaining and enhancing an academic environment within a caring, civil and safe community.
This can best be achieved through a participatory educational process where students encounter the fair and impartial enforcement of University policies and mediation of conflicts, leading to understanding and acceptance of the consequences of their behaviors. Student Conduct also serves as a resource to student organizations, University departments and individual faculty, staff and students who may be victimized by other students or student organizations.
