A variety of options are available to students who live in the residence halls at Missouri State University.
Students can choose to live in a building with two-, three- and four-person suites or they can choose to live in a building with two- and four-person suites or apartments.
Whether their housing option is a room, suite or apartment, students will find their housing space to be fully furnished. Within each of the halls, students will find a computer lab, fitness room, laundry room and public space that can be utilized to meet with others or to study. Services available to students include free laundry, free cable, WI-FI in public areas, wireless access in Woods and Scholars Houses and a front desk that is open 24 hours per day.

In addition to room-style options, students can also choose from a variety of environments within the residence halls. Living-learning communities (LLCs) are floors that have a particular theme associated with them. Students can choose to live on first-year experience floors, sophomore experience floors or floors for students pursuing a major within the College of Health and Human Services.
All of the residential facilities are smoke- and tobacco-free, and students can choose to live on a floor that focuses on a quiet-living environment, or one that provides opportunities to live with international students or with upperclassmen. Special housing is available for married and/or graduate students, students with children or students who have been accepted into the Honors Program.
Students who live in the residence halls have numerous opportunities for involvement. They can become leaders within the hall government system or they can work at the front desk. Programmatic activities are focused around the needs and wants of the students so they can continue to learn outside the classroom environment.

Staff members within the Department of Residence Life and Services are committed to upgrading facilities and to keeping them clean. Grants have been awarded to improve the buildings and implement safer practices for students. In addition to these practices, card access systems are utilized in all buildings to deny access to people who should not be in the residence halls.
Sustainability and recycling are two efforts that are stressed within Residence Life. Recycling bins are located on each floor and lobby, and students have recycling containers within their rooms. Contests have been held to encourage students to conserve electricity and to recycle items. Double-sided printing is available at each front desk.

Residence Life has a long-standing partnership with Sodexo Campus Services, the food service and catering provider on campus. Once again, students have a variety of meal plans and dining options from which to choose. There are three dining centers on campus, as well as eateries in a residence hall, classroom buildings, the library and the student union. Students can select from three different meal plans and purchase BearFare, which allows them to use their meal plan with vendors in the union.
Looking toward the future, Residence Life staff members are examining future housing projects. At the same time, steps are being taken to continue implementing renovation and refurbishing plans.
