The Office of Student Financial Aid at Missouri State University distributes more than $128 million annually from federal, state, university and private funding.
Our mission is to provide knowledgeable guidance to students as they search for ways to fund a college education; our goal is to interpret the complexities of the financial aid process in order to facilitate the student’s success.
We focus on communication with students, parents and other constituents as we explain the different types of aid available and provide information about the various aid sources. We encourage a student to take responsibility in meeting deadlines, planning ahead and following through with the necessary steps in the aid application process.

Scholarships
Missouri State offers a number of university-funded scholarships and is privileged to have a strong donor-funded program. Our academic scholarships range in value from $1,125 to $13,000 per academic year; we award a total of nearly $26 million in both need-based and merit scholarships annually. For detailed information on available scholarships, how to apply and applicable deadlines, go to www.missouristate.edu/FinancialAid/scholarships/default.asp.
Grants and Loans
We participate in Federal Title IV aid programs, which allow us to offer our students all federal grants, which include the Pell Grant and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, and all federal loans (Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, Parent PLUS Loans, Graduate PLUS loans and the Perkins loan). These programs require a student to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We encourage our students to file the FAFSA by our priority deadline of March 31st each year in order to be considered for maximum aid funding. We also offer various state grant programs for Missouri residents; most of these grants also require a FAFSA be filed for determination of eligibility.

Student Employment
Many of our students seek part-time employment to help supplement income from home and other financial assistance. Missouri State offers more than 2,000 employment opportunities on campus, as well as positions off campus. If eligible, a student can work 10-20 hours a week through the federal Work-Study program, which requires filing a FAFSA; however, employment opportunities are available to interested students not eligible for Work-Study.
In summary, we offer a wide variety of financial assistance that can help make your efforts for a college education achievable. In order to take advantage of the maximum available to you, follow these steps:
• Apply for admission; you must be admitted before you are fully eligible for university scholarships. Our academic scholarships are awarded based on information provided on your admission application.
• Complete and submit the FAFSA by our priority deadline of March 31st. You can file the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Missouri State’s federal school code is 002503.
• Be aware of deadlines! It is the student’s responsibility to meet all deadlines as they go through the financial aid process; failure to do so could result in less than favorable results for attaining financial assistance.
