The health and well-being of our students is an important part of the Mizzou community. Mizzou students receive comprehensive, quality healthcare right on campus through the Student Health Center. Today’s students receive more than treatment for coughs and colds. Medical staff in the Student Health Center educate students about managing stress, improving eating habits and staying mentally focused.
Primary Medical Care
Located in the University Physicians Medical Building, the Student Health Center features board-certified physicians and advanced practice nurses committed to the well-being of students. Students often see the same provider throughout their college career, ensuring consistent and quality care. The on-site laboratory is fully accredited and provides fast turnaround for test results.
Immunization & Prevention
Often, students’ first interaction with the Student Health Center starts in the Immunization & Prevention department. Compliance with the University of Missouri’s immunization policy is an important first step for all incoming students and helps to ensure a healthy and safe campus community. Students who wish to travel for pleasure or study abroad can make an appointment to receive the necessary vaccinations and travel information.
Mental Health
Mental Health services address students’ emotional and psychological well-being in addition to physical health. The Mental Health staff provides comprehensive behavioral health services, including psychiatric
evaluation, medication management, individual psychotherapy, mindfulness-based group programs and a clinic focused on substance-related concerns. The staff specializes in working with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance use issues and stress reduction.
Health Promotion
As part of an institution of higher education, staff
within the Student Health Center work to promote healthy behavior through education. Students assist health educators in developing educational programs, engaging in service learning projects and advocating public policies that create safe and healthy environments. Students, with the assistance of health
promotion staff, develop group presentations and individual health counseling on topics like stress, nutrition, body image, tobacco, HIV testing,
contraception, alcohol and other drugs, healthy
relationships and violence awareness and prevention.
