Recreation

Recreation is abounding throughout Columbia! The community houses 25 lighted athletic fields, seven swimming pools, 12 parks, trails and recreation centers, several golf courses and more. The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department maintains more than 2,400 acres of parkland comprising 30 miles of trails and 61 parks.

A number of beautiful state parks are located in and around Columbia, including: Pinnacles Youth Park; the 1,110-acre Finger Lakes State Park, perfect for swimming and canoeing; Rock Bridge Memorial State Park, equipped with 2,100 acres of land for mountain biking; the Gans Creek Wild Area for hiking; and the Three Creeks Conservation Area, home to a host of winding trails.

Several golf courses, both public and private, are available in the immediate area. L.A. Nickell Golf Course is an 18-hole public course in Columbia affording over 6,000 yards of play for a par of 70, while Lake of the Woods Golf Course is situated just east of the community with nearly 6,150 yards off the long tees on an 18-hole, par 71 course. Further courses include the 18-hole public course of the A.L. Gustin Golf Course and the two private courses of the Columbia Golf and Country Club and the Country Club of Missouri.
