Musical Entertainment
As a stop between St. Louis and Kansas City, two major cities in the Midwest, Columbia reaps the benefits of a multitude of concerts that stop in Columbia along their way between the two cities. Residents of Columbia experience concerts that other towns this size would never be able to accommodate. Two exciting venues for both established and up-and-coming musicians are available in Columbia: The Blue Note (www.thebluenote.com) and Mojos (www.mojoscolumbia.com). Further entertainment can be had at Columbia’s Déjà Vu Comedy Club, featuring nationally acclaimed headliners, Penguin-Dueling Piano Bar and Pepper’s Night Club.

Festivals

Festivals
Columbia is also a site for a wide array of annual festivals and events. The Heritage Festival, celebrating 30 years in 2007, brings in many 19th century artisans demonstrating and selling different types of crafts. In addition to this, the festival offers entertainment on three stages, dancing, food vendors and more. The Columbia Festival of the Arts is a week-long visual, performing and literary arts celebration that takes place the last full weekend in September in Columbia’s downtown area. Other noteworthy events include Art in the Park, taking place the first full weekend in June, the Boone County Fair in mid-July and the Twilight Festivals, which take place every Thursday in June and September.
