K-12 Education

Families are drawn to this area for many reasons, including the availability of excellent education at all levels.

Baker Middle School

Several outstanding public school districts, many of which have earned high ratings and awards for academic excellence, serve the region’s K-12 students. The region boasts an attractive high school graduation rate of approximately 91 percent and a small average student-to-teacher ratio of 15.7 to 1.

Supplementing the rigorous traditional curriculum of the schools are AP courses, gifted and talented programs, special education, adult education, and an assortment of extracurricular activities. Students regularly participate in a variety of clubs and organizations, ranging from athletics to the fine arts to academic-oriented groups. The schools also offer plenty of opportunities to acquire college credit and professional experience through vocational and training programs.

In addition to public school options, the area also houses more than 150 private and parochial institutions, as well as plenty of choices for child care and early childhood development centers. Plus, community members utilize the services of local libraries, which are stocked with thousands of books, magazines, newspapers, CDs, DVDs and other useful resources. The libraries also provide Internet access, space for meetings and year-round programming for people of all ages.
