Adult, Commuter & Transfer Services
Because making a successful transition to university life means more than getting a schedule of classes, Adult, Commuter and Transfer Services (A.C.T.S.) serves as a central source of student information, referral and advocacy for first-time entering and transfer nontraditional students. Programs such as peer mentoring and adult orientation help students make their initial connections to campus.
A.C.T.S. views the quality of the student experience as a critical outcome of an ETSU education. In serving adult, commuter and transfer students, A.C.T.S. is a focal point for information, academic and career advisement, assistance and referral.
A.C.T.S. strives to be a “one-stop shop” by maintaining a large selection of brochures and information about tutoring, academic programs, test-taking/study skills, financial aid and child care information appropriate for both graduate and undergraduate students. Commuter students can access the RideShare program, pick up carpool applications, maps of campus, bus schedules and off- campus housing listings. The office even has a battery charger and air compressor for those who may need them.
In addition, A.C.T.S is home to THE NET, a web-based student organization and discussion board dedicated to representing the interests of ETSU adult students. The office also advises the Zeta Tau chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda, the national honor society recognizing the academic achievements of full- and part-time adult students, as well as a chapter of Tau Sigma, the nationally recognized transfer student honorary. A.C.T.S. is proud of the long history of recipients of the Reentry Student Scholarship on the ETSU campus.
