

All ETSU students are welcome to utilize the developmental and counseling services of the ETSU Counseling Center. The center offers services that will help students improve the quality of their lives, and gives them the resources that will help them realize their unique potential. The professionals at the Counseling Center are licensed psychologists and professional counselors who have chosen to specialize in serving the needs of college and university students.
The Counseling Center helps students address life issues such as relationships, decision- making (including academic major and/or career choice), self-esteem, anxiety and depression, and many others.
The Counseling Center, located on the third floor of the Culp Center, provides:
• Brief, confidential personal counseling free of charge
• Psychiatric consultation and services
• 24/7 crisis counseling
• Consultations and information on personal and mental health issues
• Psychoeducational programs and workshops on a variety of topics tailored to particular needs
• Alcohol and drug screenings and referrals
• Sexual assault support
• Academic classes that help students learn about relationships, learn positive coping skills, and develop a positive lifestyle (HDAL 2350: Solving the Puzzle of Life)
• Campus events such as Take Back the Night, Love Your Body Day, National Depression and Anxiety Screening Day, and Wellapalooza (a campus wellness event)
The Counseling Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with extended hours on Monday evening. Students have 24/7 access to a counselor by calling Public Safety (439-4480).
The ETSU Counseling Center also operates the Peer Career Center (PCC), located in the Adult, Resources and Careers Center on the second floor of the Culp University Center. The PCC is the primary campus service to help students who are undecided about their choice of major or career. The PCC offers career counseling, DISCOVER (a computerized career assistance program that provides assessment and information), career interest inventories, personality style inventories, a career library and outreach programs on a variety of topics related to choice of major/career and career planning.
