Student Organization Resource Center

The Student Organization Resource Center (SORC) helps students find their place in one of the many registered student organizations at ETSU. It provides training and information opportunities along with support for student organizations.

The mission of the SORC is to:

• Enhance communication between student organizations and university staff.

• Improve collaboration and synergy between organizations and administrators in order to form partnerships and offer higher quality and better-attended programs.

• Increase respect for the diversity of people and ideas at ETSU.

• Increase awareness of the range of student organizations, activities and available resources for all students.

• Strengthen communication, leadership and organization skills for member organizations.

• Enhance visibility for student groups, their needs and their programs.

The SORC is also home to much of the entertainment on campus. Buctainment, the campus programming board, provides regular FREE entertainment on campus including events such as concerts, movies, music, lectures and novelty events such as hypnotists.

The Student Government Association, which is housed in the SORC, strives to represent the opinions of students on every aspect of campus academic and extracurricular life. Its members work closely with students, faculty and administration to provide advice and information and a strong student voice.

The SGA oversees the B.U.C. (Better University Community) Fund, which finances student activities, student travel and a diverse variety of major events for students throughout the year. SGA sponsors a FREE major campus event each semester. Past events include the Goo Goo Dolls, the All-American Rejects, Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert, David Spade, Carrie Underwood and Ludacris. SGA also sponsors a fun-filled week of student activities centered around the campus-wide Homecoming celebration in the fall.

The SORC is located on the lowest level of the D.P. Culp Center, near the Auditorium. In the SORC students will find the following student organization offices: Student Government Association, Residence Hall Association, Fraternities, Sororities, Buctainment, Multicultural Student Organizations, Volunteer ETSU and other community service groups.
